ReCraft diverts quality, reusable materials from the landfill by collecting from Upstate manufacturers, retailers, institutions, and households. Our volunteers sort, store, and redistribute those materials to schools and festivals, makers and crafters, professional artists, and even tourists visiting from Charlotte. With a little imagination, the possibilities for our unique materials are endless!
ReCraft’s mission is to promote creativity, conservation, and community through reuse.
Creativity: inspire with public pop-up events, tailored programming, online platforms, and a retail shop (2020)
Conservation: divert valuable material from space-constrained landfills
Community: facilitate meaningful dialogue and interaction, in-person and online
Why creative reuse?
Creative reuse focuses on reused and reusable materials that have artistic and educational value.
94% of teachers pay for classroom supplies with their own money— on average, $479.
Reuse and recycling create at least 25 times more jobs per ton than landfilling and incineration.
73% of Millenials are willing to pay more for sustainable goods. 81% of consumers say they will make personal sacrifices to address social and environmental issues.
Currently, more than 120 creative reuse centers operate across America. The creative reuse movement is growing!
